about

I was looking at my Blue King Brown album and saw the title Us and Them. I thought what if there was just Us. So I wrote the song, which just had to be a reggae song. Jeremy played the great bass guitar like something from a Bob Marley record as well as the lovely choppy guitar. I also put some additional percussion on the track and did some backing vocals.

lyrics

Us and Us
(Bruce Pumpa)

(Chorus1)
There’s no us and them
There’s only us and us
We’re all going the same places on a train
Or some place on a bus
The things that separate us
Are less than the things that keep us together
We can always find something in common
Even if we have to talk about the weather

Look at your neighbours in a positive light
There’s no need to look for a fight
They love their kids and their Mum and Dads like you
And only wants to live in peace and harmony too

We’re all scared of change
Takes time for our heads to rearrange
Strangers aren’t so strange when you get to know them
Seeds of friendship can grow if you sow them

(Chorus 2)
There’s no us and them
There’s only us and us
We’re all different but we’re all the same
All we need is trust
The things that separate us
Are less than the things that keep us together
We can always find something in common
Even if we have to talk about whatever

Respect for everyone you meet
A friendly look as you pass in the street
Can make the World a better place
We all look better with a smile on our face

Solos: Piano and Organ

People are so good to meet
Though some of them are sour many more are sweet
When we meet them we can find out
And that’s what I think the World’s all about

(Chorus1)
Talking about things I never heard of
Talking about things you wouldn’t believe a word of
