Whether you think you can or you think you can't, you're right. There is no shame in trying and not succeeding, but it would be a shame for a person to really want to do something and not even try. So we recorded Anything Can Happen and threw everything into it. This song was very easy to write but hard to arrange. I just kept playing and singing, but then it needed arranging.

I ended up working out the arrangement, and Jeremy moved the parts around on the recording to suit. We then went to the Midian Reheasal Studio in Richmond and recorded the drum kit and another drum take using brushes, which we brought in and out of the mix. I made percussion instruments like pieces of wood on string and broken glass in a jar, plus we used conventional percussion like cowbell and timbales I borrowed from my old Orchestra and Big Band friend Peter Robb and just went for it, like a rocket to the moon.
